At about 4:20 am on July 23, Artis Felton left the rooming house where he lived on North 9th Street, according to police.

Felton had just gotten a job through a temp agency and was working in a cookie factory in Pennsylvania, authorities said. The 39-year-old had to walk about a mile-and-a-half before dawn to meet the minivan that would take him to the factory.
